AAUW Forum: Women of Ancient Egypt: Dispel Myths-Learn Contributions (six-week course)

History has misrepresented, even erased, important ancient Egyptian women. This course will dispel myths surrounding these women as you learn their true contributions. The instructor will provide an overview of women in ancient Egypt including the lives of leaders, as well as, wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters. You will gain knowledge of significant achievements of historical figures such as Hatshepsut, Nefertiti, Cleopatra, Hypatia, among others. Presentation is enhanced by beautiful and informative visuals.

This six-week course will occur online via Zoom on Tuesdays, 10:00-11:45a.m. October 5 – November 9, 2021 and will be recorded for future viewing if desired.

Instructor: Heidi Saleh, PhD – majored in Archaeology and Anthropology as undergrad at the University of Texas; at UC Berkeley, she earned M.A. and Ph.D. in Egyptian Art and Archaeology through the Dept of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. Currently is an Art History Professor at Santa Rosa Junior College
